Claude Work and Cowork for UX: organize the work

Create a source-linked research digest and decision log from a bounded set of approved files.

Workflow: Inventory inputs; then Extract observations; then Review contradictions; then Approve the digest
Follow the numbered steps; use the review checkpoint before moving on.

Do the work, step by step

  1. Start a Claude conversation with a clear outcome and attach a small approved folder or set of documents. Treat ‘Claude Work’ as an informal description here; Cowork is the product terminology used in Anthropic’s documentation.
  2. Ask Claude to inventory the inputs before analyzing them. Supply source IDs and require it to report unreadable or missing files.
  3. Request a digest with observations, source references, contradictions and unanswered questions. Ask for a decision log with an owner and next action for each item.
  4. Review original excerpts, correct misinterpretations, and approve the final files. Where connected tools can change external systems, specify read-only work first and a separate approval for writes.

A prompt to adapt

Replace the bracketed inputs with your own context. Copy this prompt into your chosen tool.

Using only the attached approved documents, inventory each file and its date. Create a UX evidence digest: source ID, exact excerpt when available, observation, interpretation, contradictory evidence, open question. Never invent quotes. Draft a separate decision log. Do not send, publish, delete or modify source files.

Your practice assignment

Use three anonymized interview notes or clearly labeled practice notes. Find one theme supported by multiple sources and one contradictory case. Keep practice material separate from real findings.

Review checkpoint

Every quotation matches its original; missing evidence is visible; external actions remain within the permissions you granted.
